11 bit Studios’ next big game is a bit different but also totally in line with the studio’s philosophy. The Alters is a classic sci-fi story centered on Jan Dolski, who undertakes a risky mission. When his ship crashes and he’s the only survival, Jon is forced to explore an alien planet in pursuit of a way home.

To accomplish this, he’ll need to create Alters – alternate versions of himself – with the element Rapidium. Each Alter can have different skills and character traits, making them essential to survival and accomplishing your goal of escape. Along with elements of mystery, The Alters dabbles a bit into psychological horror but also carries an element of surrealism.

Overall, 11 bit Studios is aiming at more systemic and non-linear gameplay with players creating their own stories. Much like This War of Mine and Frostpunk, the developer wants you to think long after it’s all over. The Alters is coming to PC though a release date wasn’t announced. Stay tuned for more details in the meantime.
