The official Twitter account for Deus Ex is teasing something. They posted a mysterious tweet today, claiming a ‘security breach,’ at the in universe fictitious Aug Aware site, with a link that leads to here. Going to the website reveals an error page- but going to the site’s source coding reveals some rather interesting text.
“Be ███ Aware,” the text reads. “Enhancing humans with technology has become widespread. But ██ you ████ ██ ███ need████ █████████ ██ ██████ to ██████ █████ ████ Inform yourself. Progress will ████ ██ ██ ████ ██ █████ ██ truly benefit humanity.”
All of this sounds like an elaborate ARG, of the kind that was also used in the run up to Human Revolution‘s release back in 2011. It sounds like Eidos Montreal and Square Enix will initiate an interactive campaign, one which involves the participation of fans, as we near the August release date of Deus Ex: Mankind Divided.
Deus Ex: Mankind Divided is due out on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC on August 23.
