While Ubisoft has been quiet about the development of The Division 3, it looks like work on the project is still continuing. A host of new job listings have popped up on the company’s careers page that all involve working on The Division 3 out of Massive Entertainment’s Malmö office in Sweden.

Among the roles that Ubisoft is looking to fill are senior realization programmer, lead game designer, animation director, senior AI game designer, lead AI programmer, senior tools programmer, and senior systems game designer.

The role of senior realization programmer seems to be one of the more unique ones of the bunch, with its job description noting that it involves joining a “newly formed Realization team” for The Division 3. The team will collaborate with other programming teams, and will have the developer working on “Character Realization for both players and NPCs,” while also working on other aspects of the title, including lighting, audio, and facial animation, among others.

While no new details about The Division 3 have been revealed through these job listings, the one for lead game designer reaffirms that the title will be following in the footsteps of its predecessors in being an online live-service title. The role involves driving the “design and execution of key Social and Online features, while helping shape the foundations required to support the game as a live experience.”

Owing to Ubisoft’s general silence about The Division 3, the departure of former executive producer Julian Gerighty back in January had indicated that the project might be facing some trouble. However, the studio acknowledged Gerighty’s departure, and said that it plans to continue working on the game. Gerighty himself said that “The Division’s future burns bright, and I can’t wait for you to discover what the teams have been working on.”

Before his departure, however, Gerighty had spoken about the development of The Division 3, and while he didn’t reveal any real details, he noted that “It’s shaping up to be a monster,” and “I can’t really say anything more than that.”

Tom Clancy’s The Division 3 was officially announced all the way back in 2023. However, the studio had been busy with its single-player open world game, Star Wars Outlaws, on which Gerighty served as creative director. At the time, he said that he was “setting his sights” on The Division 3, and that he had started building a team at Massive Entertainment that could handle the development.

In the meantime, Massive Entertainment has continued to support The Division 2 with major updates. Earlier this year, the company announced that its Year 8 plans for the live-service cover-based looter shooter would involve the introduction of cross-platform multiplayer, more attention paid to PvP balance, and an entirely new Incursion – the Steel Creek hydroelectric dam and power station.

An update from back in April introduced a new difficulty system for Escalations, with an entirely new set of Mutators and Modifiers that would change up how players would have to tackle the various combat encounters.

The Division 2 is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
