The Division Update 1.8

Battle royale games are all the rage these days, and so far, no actual major AAA publisher (which means Activision, EA, Ubisoft, and Take 2) has actually managed to capitalize on the trend. We have heard EA and Activision publicly discuss the idea of putting an entry in the genre out, but we haven’t seen anything concrete from anything.

But as far as Ubisoft, at least, is concerned, there may be a new one in the works. Massive Entertainment, the studio behind The Division, may be working on a new battle royale game, if a report by gamereactor.eu is to be believed. Allegedly, the game began development in January, with the intent of a shot turnaround time, so we could see it debut at E3, with a release following shortly thereafter. Given that quick turnarounds have been associated with the genre in general, that wouldn’t be too surprising either.

This isn’t even the only game Massive is working on- they continue to support The Division, have the upcoming The Division 2, and also a new Avatar game in the works. Talk about being busy!
