Bethesda finally took the wraps off of The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim Special Edition and unveiled several of the new graphical features that it would be touting. However, for those who played on PC with extensive mods, it’s easy to be skeptical about just how extensive the remaster work is.
According to director Todd Howard during an interview, the textures are even higher resolution than the High Resolution Texture Pack that was released for PC after the base game’s launch.
Howard also revealed that the shader work is more advanced but for PC players who have had similar looking visuals thanks to the crazier mods out there, the decision was made to provide the Special Edition for free. That is, if you own the base game and all of its DLC.
The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim Special Edition is out on October 28th for Xbox One, PS4 and PC. What are your thoughts on the remaster? Let us know in the comments below.
