Cannonball had a lot of affiliations more notably to the Avengers; formerly X-Men, New Mutants (founding member), X.S.E., X-Treme X-Men. He has proved to be quite useful to many fights, as his powers include the ability to bodily generate thermo-chemical energy which is quite deadly and potent,  and release it from his skin. This energy is used as thrust to cause his body to be propelled through the air, like his namesake.
