If you thought PlayStation was the only publisher running two shows in the same week, think again, as Nintendo has announced not one but two Directs. The first is The Legend of Zelda 40th Anniversary Direct on September 8th at 7 AM PT, which runs for approximately 30 minutes.
This is followed by a 45-minute general Direct on September 9th at 7 AM PT. Since The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time’s remake launches this year for Nintendo Switch 2, it seems all but guaranteed that the company will announce a release date, if not showcase the first gameplay. That in itself is worth looking forward to, especially given how beloved the original is.
The Nintendo Direct is more challenging to predict. The rumored Metroid Ravenous, a side-scrolling entry akin to Metroid Dread, could be showcased. Nintendo may also finally reveal the next 3D Mario, rumored to launch sometime in 2027. Pokémon Winds and Waves and Xenoblade Genesis may receive new gameplay trailers, and perhaps release dates.
Of course, some third-party surprises may also be in order, though it’s doubtful they’ll match the shock level of Kingdom Hearts 4 at the last Direct. As always, stay tuned for more details and live coverage.
