The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild’s Champions’s Ballad DLC Still Has You Play As Link, Is Probably A Sequel To The Game’s Events

You will also learn a lot more about Zelda and the Champions.

The Champions’ Ballad has excited the imagination of Zelda fans the world over since it was first announced- after all, it will be the first story focused expansion for a Zelda game ever, which is already exciting enough in and of itself. The great trailer for the game at E3 this year only stoked the fires even more.

The trailer seemed to suggest that the game might be a prequel, and follow Zelda’s story- however, it looks like that will not be the case. Eiji Aonuma, the producer for Breath of the Wild, has confirmed that the DLC will still star Link as the playable character. That said, he has also promised that players will learn a lot more about Zelda and the Champions as well.

Preliminary footage from the DLC also suggests that it will be a sequel to Breath of the Wild, and not a prequel- since it shows an activated Shrine, and those only activated in the present day, when Link activates the Great Plateau’s Sheikah Tower.

Finally, the lobster shirt from The Wind Waker, Link’s adorable pyjama outfit, will also be available in the DLC- for those of you who are Wind Waker fans.

The Champions’ Ballad is due out later this year on the Nintendo Switch and Wii U. If you want to go back to playing Breath of the Wild now, you should look into downloading the Master Trials DLC for it that was just released last week.
