The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom has enjoyed universal praise, with many billing it as a superior game even to its seminal predecessor. Unsurprisingly, it’s enjoying a similar level of success where sales are concerned as well.

Nintendo has announced that The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom sold over 10 million units worldwide within three days of its release. That makes it the fastest-selling game in the Zelda franchise to date, while with that numbered, it has also equaled the stellar launch sales of last year’s Pokemon Scarlet and Violet.

Tears of the Kingdom sold over 2.4 million units in Japan at launch, and over 4 million units in the Americas, which means it’s also Nintendo’s fastest-selling game to date in the Americas.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom also debuted on top of the weekly UK physical charts, enjoying the biggest launch in the region for a 2023 game so far. It’s also reported to have sold roughly half a million physical units in France upon release.

In our review of the game, we awarded it a score of 10/10, saying, “Tears of the Kingdom ups the ante on its predecessor, and follows up on one of the greatest games ever made by exceeding it in every possible regard to a thorough, comprehensive degree. If you are a fan of the medium, you owe it to yourself to play this game.” Read the full review through here.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is available now on the Nintendo Switch.
