The trailer also provides some backstory for Nippon Ichi Software's puzzle platformer.

The Liar Princess and The Blind Prince

Nippon Ichi Software’s The Liar Princess and The Blind Prince was quite the unorthodox title when we first saw it in January. However, we have now finally got some more gameplay footage, along with story set-up for what’s going on. And it’s all tied together in a fairy-tale-esque art-style that’s both whimsical and kind of sad. Check it out below.

The story sees two “lonely hearts”, a prince who’s blind and a princess who can turn into a wolf, working together. The princess guides the prince through many dangers in order to restore his sight. Along with moving past traps and solving puzzles, the princess must protect the prince from savage wildlife.

What’s interesting is that unlike Game Arts’ Dokuro, the player must transform back into a princess to guide the prince. That’s an interesting bit of nuance, especially when deciding the right time to shift between princess and wolf form. The Liar Princess and The Blind Prince will release on February 12th, 2019 for Nintendo Switch and PS4 in the West.
