Shock and horror.
Sony is known for supporting new IPs and one off projects with no franchise potential; Sony Santa Monica Studios, on the other hand, have been notorious for sticking with one IP constantly for the last eight years, milking it almost beyond the point of tolerance.
During the tech demo for the game at Gamescom, Ready at Dawn CEO Ru Weerasuriya told VG247 mentioned that the game might be the first in a planned franchise taking place in a Steampunk, post industrial London.
It’s not exactly ground breaking news, because of Sony Santa Monica’s aforementioned penchant for milking their franchises and games, but honestly, I’m not even complaining at this point. God of War was great, at least to begin with, and The Order 1866 looks like it has some great potential for interesting gameplay experiences as well.
