The Surge 2

Deck13 made several fans of The Surge happy today when it announced The Surge 2, another Souls-like hack and slash game with a sci-fi setting. Set to release in 2019, the developer shared more information on what could be expected from the sequel.

The limb targeting system from the first game is coming back though there will apparently be improvements. Ditto for the progression system though said improvements weren’t outlined. Much as the first promotional shot indicated though, The Surge 2 will take place in a ruined city as opposed to a CREO factory. The level design will be “larger and more ambitious” than before with an improved engine being used.

If you disliked the lack of enemy variety in the original, then take solace in that The Surge 2 has new enemies and bosses to battle along with new abilities, weapons, implants and drones. The Surge 2 is in development for PC and consoles with the latter yet to be specified.
