The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Remastered Runs “Just Fine” on Steam Deck and Switch 2, Per CDPR

"With the newer rendering engine, many of the systems just work faster," said CD Projekt RED executive producer Jakub Kutrzuba.

The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt - Remastered

It isn’t every day that we get to talk about how a game that’s around eleven years old at this point is all set to take the world by storm yet again, but that was before we heard of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Remastered’s existence.

It’s good news once again, as the beloved title is hitting two new platforms: Nintendo Switch 2 and the Steam Deck. The news comes from CD Projekt Red’s Jakub Kutrzuba, executive producer of external projects, who told PC Gamer that the game’s new rendering engine takes all the credit for making its handheld ports a reality. It’s certainly great to know that many more of you will get to replay this absolute beauty of a game, or perhaps experience it for the first time in all its glory, expansions and all.

“When it comes to the Steam Deck, based on what we see, the game will work the same way, but look much, much better. Because on one side we are bringing all these improvements, we are bringing new content, we are upgrading the assets, but [also] the new rendering features. With the newer rendering engine, many of the systems just work faster. So we are just capable of showing a more beautiful image with the same cost, and this is also the case for the Nintendo Switch 2, which is coming together with the Remaster as well.”

We’re expecting this one to be a fresh take on the game that addresses some of the few complaints we’ve had over the long years since it first hit shelves to take us by storm. We might even be tempted to pay those higher prices, especially since the Remastered update is free.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Remastered is out on September 29th and is also coming to PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
