The RPG/card game hybrid won't see a sequel, unfortunately.

CD Projekt RED have seen unprecedented success with their adaptation of The Witcher series. It really took off with The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, which spawned a card game spin-off. But it hasn’t all been huge successes, unfortunately, as one of the most underrated entries in the franchise, Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales, won’t be getting a continuation.

In a Q&A session in a video (which you can view below), community manager Pawel Burza gave a pretty firm no when it was asked if we would see a follow up to The Witcher Tales. It’s not a huge surprise, since the game was said to underperform shortly after it launched, and with Cyberpunk 2077 becoming another key franchise for the company, it will probably mean less time for spin-offs in general.

Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales was a pretty great game that combined the strong narrative of the main Witcher series with the card game mechanics of GWENT. It was a solid game, so it’s worth checking out even if a sequel won’t be on the horizon.
