They Will Come is a New Narrative Stealth-Based Platformer, Coming to PC in July

Along with sneaking around a gigantic steampunk airship during a war, They Will Come will also allow you to pilot a large mech.

Developer Game Pop Studio has unveiled its new steampunk stealth game – They Will Come – through a new trailer revealed during Future Games Show: Summer Showcase 2026. The title is slated for release on PC in July, and the trailer, which you can check out below, gave us a look at what its gameplay will involve.

They Will Come is set entirely on a gigantic airship flying in the skies in an alternate history version of the year 1897. As the trailer explains, the protagonist is a young boy who must decide to rise up against evil at the risk of losing his family for good. There also seems to be a war of some kind taking place in the background, which would explain all the military equipment to be found on the airship.

The core gameplay involves sneaking around the place, avoiding guards and different kinds of enemies as much as possible. Thankfully, this is made easy thanks to the fact that the guards also seem to need light sources to find you, and thus carry lanterns. These lanterns make for an easy way to understand whether you’re at risk of getting caught.

Interestingly, it looks like They Will Come will also feature some moments of action-packed catharsis by letting you pilot a gigantic mech that can seemingly take down entire platoons’ worth of enemies. Whether this mech will be a permanent companion or simply act as a power-up that you can find throughout the game remains to be seen.

Since Game Pop has noted that They Will Come is a cinematic platformer, it looks like the storytelling will be a core focus of the upcoming title.
