THQ Nordic, and its parent company Embracer Group, has grown a huge amount in a short time. They’ve swallowed up so many different mid-tier studios and various IPs, it’s legitimately difficult to keep track of everything that they currently own or have in development. As of last year the company was said to have 118 titles in some form of development. Well, add one more to the pile, I guess.
In a press release, THQ Nordic announced they had formed a new studio called Ashborne Games. It features multiple veterans of the industry, with members said to have worked on Arma, Mafia and Silent Hill Downpour. The team’s first title will be a brand new IP and is said to be a strategy roleplaying game. On top of that, the company will also support Comanche, a game in the IP that THQ Nordic acquired and many team members from that development team coming over to Ashborne. The team is 38 members as of now, with plans to expand soon.
“Ashborne Games is now focused on laying the groundwork for a brand-new Strategy/RPG IP while simultaneously supporting Comanche in its early access phase, along with the game preview,” reads the press release. “Our focus and passion lie in strategy and RPG games. Our goal as a team is to create an authentic gaming experience with sophisticated systems that encourage repeated playthroughs. We believe that’s something that’s really missing on the market.”
No word yet on when we can expect any kind of information of this new title. Comanche, however, is available now in early access phase on PC.
