Time Splitters 4: Crytek says “volume of responses not high” enough yet

Cevat Yerli has revealed that fan demand for Time Splitters 4 is gaining traction but it’s not at a level they would seriously consider investing and taking the risk. Yerli himself is a huge Time Splitters fan and he had said earlier that while he wants to take the initiative, but the publishers don’t find it interesting enough. They have to spend their own money in this volatile market.

“When we looked at it – and again, I love Timesplitters, I’m a huge Timesplitters fan particularly of the multiplayer part. I love the idea, I love the brand, I love everything – but the publishers don’t. That’s reality. And I don’t want to spend our own money on the project in a retail business, ” he said.

The Facebook petition that was started for the game currently has 29,000 signatures, way short of the required 100,000.

However, there is hope. Yerli mentioned that there could be some surprises coming soon, and while fans are vocal, it’s not at the level he wants.

“I tested through my official blog to see how big the Timesplitters community is, and while the volume of responses was quite high, we feel it’s not high enough yet,” he told VG247. ” That being said, it did indeed trigger a deeper evaluation of what we do with Timesplitters, and I can only say this for now; we might have some surprises coming soon.”

The last Timesplitters title was Timesplitters: Future Perfect, which came out as far back 2005, developed by Free Radical Design. The game introduced some great co-op features and missions twists (besides hilarious characters), but the mulitplayer was most loved. Let’s hope we see a sequel soon.
