To The Death

A new 2D action side-scroller has appeared on Kickstarter and comes from the minds behind titles such as TitanFall and Call of Duty. To The Death will be the first title for Scary Monstro and Section Studios, and currently requires $400,000 in funding.

Among developers on the project, there is lead designer Todd Alderman and engineer Francesco Gigliotti who both worked at Infinity Ward and then Respawn Entertainment.

To The Death is apparently looking mesh “beat’em up and shoot’em up genres into something new and refreshing”, and will run at 60 FPS The story follows two warriors who continue their battle in an purgatory-esque place called The Crawl. Alderman stated that, “We wanted to develop a video game that’s easy to pick up but hard to put down.”

Planned for release on Steam for PC, Mac, and Linux, To The Death will have co-op, split-screen play and a versus mode.
