7. Evil Zone
Evil Zone, for all its issues, was actually a really cool fighting game. It was fast paced, easily accessible and possessed the 3D movement we take for granted in modern fighters. That said, the script was pretty poor. In fact, I’d go as far as saying it barely makes sense half the time. I don’t know if it was a design choice or poor translation. I’ll leave it up to you to decide.
6. Vampire Night
Light gun shooters aren’t exactly renowned for housing great narratives, but Vampire Night was an especial example of a game plagued with dodgy voice acting and embarrassing script. It’s another one of these games that fits into a B-movie niche as a result of its plot, but the speech is still awkward all the same. Fair play to the gameplay though, as Vampire Night is an underrated classic of the light gun shooter genre.
5. Granstream Saga
Good RPGs offer some of the most engaging gameplay experiences ever conceived, but bad ones can be very bad indeed. I bring this up in regards to Granstream Saga, a PS1 RPG with a lovingly old school style that is ruined by a plethora of gameplay niggles and clichés. The biggest issue was the poor translation and this, in conjunction with terribly voice acted CGI movies, (though they did look amazing at the time) results in some seriously awkward dialogue.
4. Enchanted Arms
It is 2006 and, having only recently acquired an Xbox 360, I was desperate to enjoy some of my favourite genres in HD as they were released for the system. Sadly, the first proper RPG I got my hands on was Enchanted Arms, a mediocre title that is instantly forgettable at best. I can see why the game has garnered a cult following as of late, but the cheesy dialogue and corny voice acting was just a little bit too much for me to take.
