Top 10 Games With Embarrassing Dialogue

3. Resident Evil

A list such as this would not be complete without the now legendary “master of unlocking line” from Resident Evil. Other lines like the “Jill sandwich” were considered, but they couldn’t stand up to the infamy of the lockpick scene. With robotic scripting and shoddy voice acting, this line is a certifiably awful classic of the gaming world, but in the most amusing way possible.

2. Castle Shikigami 2

There’s nothing quite like a literal translation to generate some humorously poor dialogue. At times seeming dry and calculated, and at others making virtually no sense, Castle Shikigami 2 defines poor script writing. When paired with the game’s hollow voice acting it becomes so much more. It’s no doubt awful, but so very amusing at the same time. It’s embarrassing to watch, but I’m glad it exists all the same.

1. Zelda: Wand of Gamelon

The classic itself. As if poor voice acting and characterisation aren’t bad enough, it becomes a million times worse when it completely misinterprets such a beloved franchise. All three Zelda games developed for the CD-i are funny to watch, but they become depressing when you think that these were actually passed off as real Zelda titles back in the early 90’s. It’s times like this that being a gamer is embarrassing.

Any other great examples of really embarrassing voice acting spring to mind? Share them with us in the comments.
