1. Charizard (First Appearance: Pokemon Red/Blue)

Come on, you knew this was coming. Don’t act surprised now. You knew this would be coming.

I mean, of course Charizard would be number one. Why do I even have to explain it? Were you born after 2000 or something?

Charizard was the ultimate Pokemon- Pikachu may have been the mascot, but Charizard was what people identified Pokemon with. His sleek dragon form, his cool devil may care attitude in the cartoon, his insane power, his typing (fire types have always been popular), and the fact that it was pretty much possible to plow through the original Pokemon games using only Charizard all added to his enduring popularity.

Even today, Charizard remains the most popular Pokemon, and his design is one of the most iconic ones. He stands as the one and only example of what a true Pokemon should be.
