Liberty City was already awesome in GTA III and Liberty City Stories. GTA IV made it even more awesome. There were four frigging islands- HUGE islands- to explore, and each of them as much fun to roam around in as the others. It was a lot of fun shooting and punching people for no reason, who went about their business like, you know, actual people. The world felt alive and breathing, more so than perhaps most games on this list. Maybe that is why I love GTA IV so much.
