Empire Earth II

The idea of progressing your settlement from the stone ages to the far off future seems very interesting, and it is even more so when we actually play it in Empire Earth II. All the units and building are authentic, and so are the environments and the ages come and by. Addictive gameplay and a long campaign are the meat of the game, whereas the multiplayer component is also worth mentioning. Pity that Empire Earth III downright sucked, but Empire Earth II will always be remembered as one of the best RTS’s of all time.

Age of Empires II: The Age of Kings

Age of Empires II: The Age of Kings is often called the best strategy game of all time. And for good reason. It has an awesome gameplay engine, with brilliant single player modes, a great campaign, great multiplayer modes, highly addictive gameplay, and great replay value. I have spent over a thousand hours, drawing out strategies and tactics on how to build my city and take out my enemies, and carrying through my plans successfully (or otherwise). After having spent so much time playing this game, I can safely vouch for the fact that this really is one of the best games ever created.

StarCraft

And this- this is why Blizzard is often called the big daddy of the strategy genre. StarCraft has often been touted as one of the most innovative, creative, addictive, memorable, iconic and even more frequently, the best strategy game of all time. Production values were over the roof with excellent voice work, and the gameplay was flawless and addictive, and can hold its own even against biggies these days. The multiplayer component was great for that time, and the campaign was amazing as well. In a nutshell- StarCraft is a must buy for all those who deign to call themselves hardcore gamers… or even gamers, for that matter.

Honourable Mentions
