Resident Evil 7 proved to be a major directional shift for the franchise, but thankfully enough, it was absolutely the right direction to head in. The game’s first person perspective proved to be an excellent design choice, as it successfully brought back the palpable sense of tension and horror the series was known for, while the its visuals also did their part. Capcom crammed the game full of detail and visual sheen, all of which contributed to the atmosphere in excellent ways.
