Okay, they have never been implied as a “couple,” ever, but the two shared a great chemistry in Twilight Princess, as Midna gradually developed care and friendly feelings for Link. We could not have known how Link feels, but his expression at the end of the game when Midna leaves gives his feelings away. If not as a couple, we love to see them as a duo, and it is, probably, what makes Twilight Pricness so emotionally moving.

Snake and Meryl (Metal Gear Solid)

Meryl has been known to have “a large place” for Snake in her heart, and Snake surely has the same feelings for the lady, despite his husky and tough attitude. Because after loosing their two children to the Locust, Maria went in depression, and by the time Dom Santiago found her in a Locust prison, she was too tortured and disturbed to even recognize her husband. Dom might have put an end to her suffering by shooting to her, but his life is now pure torture for him.
