Asheron’s Call (500 sq miles)

MMOs are known for giving players large spaces to run around in, and Asheron’s call is no different. This title is soaked in fantasy. Strange monsters lurk in every area, constantly hunting down and murdering players. Due to its age it isn’t the prettiest of titles now, but it’s easy to lose yourself in this terrifying world of fantasy.

Final Fantasy XI (500 square miles)

Fans were shocked when it was announced that the eleventh game in the Final Fantasy franchise would be a MMO. ‘It wasn’t a true Final Fantasy’ game they argued, but as it turns out, they were wrong. The title captured what was great about the franchise and perfectly translated it to an MMO format. While it did turn off some fans, it also let us explore a Final Fantasy world in a way we never could before.
