#20. UNCHARTED 4: A THIEF’S END
Uncharted is by no means gone forever – Sony would be foolish to let one of their biggest cash crops go dormant. But though Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End wasn’t the ending, it was still an ending, with series protagonist Nathan Drake signing off after one last hurrah. And really, we could not have asked for a better sendoff for him. Uncharted 4 is a perfect evolution of everything that Uncharted stands for. Its action is thrilling and tight, its set-piece moments are unforgettable spectacles, its characters are loveable and their interactions heart-warming, and its got a story that displays a level of maturity that the series had been in need for some time now, that still doesn’t ever take itself too seriously. It’s also a visual treat, boasting some of the most impressive graphics we’ve ever seen in a video game, while it also continues the tradition of motion and performance capture getting better with each new Naughty Dog game. Uncharted 4 may have gone through an infamously troubled development cycle, but like the champions they are, Naughty Dog managed to turn things around in spectacular fashion, to deliver what is probably the best game in the series.
