#14. GHOST OF TSUSHIMA
Sucker Punch started the generation with inFamous Second Son as one of PS4’s first exclusives, and fittingly enough, ended the generation with the console’s last major first party release. And with Ghost of Tsushima, they quite possibly also made one of their strongest games to date. As an open world game set in Japan where you play as a samurai, Ghost of Tsushima scratches a number of itches at the same time. And while its central gameplay loop is addictive yet formulaic, in other ways, the game feels incredibly fresh. Exploring the island of Tsushima is a constant joy, not only because the game captures the feeling of wonder and discovery like few others do, but also because of how astoundingly beautiful its world is. It took Sucker Punch six years to make Ghost of Tsushima, and it’s fair to say that by and large, it was definitely worth the wait.
