#26. BLOOD AND TRUTH
More and more each year, the exciting potential of virtual reality comes into focus. Valve recently made massive waves with the spectacular Half-Life: Alyx, but in the console space, Sony have been pushing the technology for a while now. Already, they’ve delivered some solid killer apps for PSVR- one of those is Blood and Truth, SIE London’s cinematic first person shooter. The game does suffer from some issues that VR games usually do – occasionally frustrating controls, awkward movement – but it’s also a classic case of a game being greater than the sum of its parts. The bombastic Hollywood action keeps you engrosses in the immediate gameplay, while a surprisingly engrossing (and pulpy) story makes sure that you stick around to take part in the next big firefight. Blood and Truth is one of few releases in recent years that have shown that VR games don’t have to settle for mediocrity or small-scale experiences- and we hope we see more games in its vein soon.
