FIRE EMBLEM: AWAKENING

For reasons that we can talk about for a long, long time, the Fire Emblem franchise had failed to permeate the mainstream western market, and so, the series was floundering. It barely sold, and as a result, Nintendo had almost given up. And so it was that Fire Emblem: Awakening’s development team was told that unless and until their newest FE game did well, the franchise would be permanently discontinued. Afraid and saddened by the fact that they were almost absolutely making their last Fire Emblem game ever, they poured their heart and soul into it, making it the best game they possibly could. And lo and behold, when it came out, it turned out that it was so good that it managed to sell in droves, and the franchise was saved from facing the axe. Fir Emblem: Awakening is one of the best games to have been released in 2013, and one of the best 3DS games to have been released till date, and no matter what, it has to be counted amongst the greatest sequels of the years, because it improves upon its predecessors like few games have ever done.
