FMV games have become a extinct breed in the modern games industry, but there was a time when developers made liberal use of it- and many of them actual did it very well. The second game in the Gabriel Knight series, The Beast Within, is one such game. Boasting a fascinating setting, a rich and expertly told story, and complex and well-acted characters, when it came out, The Beast Within was a genuinely great game. Sadly, though the game was by no means unsuccessful, it never quite saw as much success as it deserved.
