Why, of course you’re not playing as Big Boss – you’re the Medic, injured at the end of Ground Zeroes and transformed into Venom Snake to act as a decoy. Ishmael, encountered in the opening hour, is the real Big Boss. Yep, that’s it. It also doesn’t help that several key points like the fate of Liquid Snake and the future Psycho Mantis were explored in the cut Episode 51.
