Dungeons and Dragons was a great franchise, heck almost every person on the planet has heard of the game and why not? It’s quite awesome. There is nothing wrong in taking inspiration from your favorite game and making another game out of it. However Final Fantasy rips off Dungeons and Dragons quite blatantly. The class system and magic spells were practically drawn straight from the tabletop game. Certain monsters were even more blatant rips in the game’s original Japanese release; it looked A LOT like Dungeons and Dragons.
