Wildstar:

Space sci-fi is all the rage it seems, lately. Well the MMO, WildStar is throwing itself into the mix in 2014 as a free-to-play MMO. The game is currently available for Beta now and has four races per faction. Now this game does a lot of things that most Massive Multiplayer titles do, but it seems to have a wonderful sense of humor and much more personality than your average MMO title. What is unique about this game is that you’re able to purchase things called “plots,” you can set up shop there, and have a nice little domicile to set up any way you see fit.

The player and their friends can also spring for what’s called “War Plot” which, essentially seems like two large military complexes that can be upgraded and used to wage almost a Tower Defense and Offense-type of attack. This war plot can be outfitted with all sorts of weapons to help you siege your enemies fortress. The game also sounds like it’s going to be providing some end-game content in the way of story driven quests. It seems like there are some things that you can only find out about your character and the lost planet you’re on by having a high-level character with end-game gear.

This is a nice little touch, and while it’s most definitely not going to carry the game, or keep everyone playing it’s something extra that the players have to look forward too. Of course the game is going to have plenty of raids, PvP zones and the classic instances where you can run through areas of the game with your friends, slaughtering the indigenous life to no end. Gamers who love MMO titles and want something new may want to think about give WildStar a shot. It may not be for everyone, but it will be a free-to-play game, so the only investment that really needs to be made is time. Even if you’re just curious it’s worth a look.
