DayZ:
The stand alone version of DayZ is on it’s way. The popular mod is getting a massive update to turn itself into a full fledged game.Bohemia Interactive is working diligently on this game, but the work is far from done. The engine that’s being used is somewhere between ARMA II: Operation Arrowhead engine and the new ARMA III game engine. They are looking to make a solid bid for a top notch, triple-A title as well and ironing out a lot of bugs or issues that people seemed to have with this incredibly popular mod.
DayZ sort of started the whole online zombie-survival genre. It turns out this this style of gameplay is incredibly popular and more developers seem to be following suit and trying to match DayZ’s success, at the very least. DayZ was originally supposed to be released before the holiday season this year, however it seems some setbacks and unexpected occurrences have shifted their schedule. At this point we’ll be likely to see DayZ’s standalone counterpart sometime in 2014. Hopefully much sooner, rather than later. There is certainly a lot of competition that’s cropped up for this game.
