Ubisoft CEO wants PS4 and Xbox 720 already

Watch Dogs next-gen title?

Ubisoft, the best publisher of 2012, has said that they need new consoles because this gen has lasted too long. You know what? They are complete right considering the PS3 and Xbox 360 are almost half a decade old and public interest in these consoles is declining slowly according to NPD data from the US.

“The transition has been very long. We need new consoles and at the end of the cycle generally the market goes down because there are less new IPs, new properties, so that damaged the industry a little bit. I hope next time they will come more often,” Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot told Polygon.

While he says that plenty of gamers acknowledge the need for new consoles, the mass market doesn’t care about them and are interested in the same experience. I personally thing he is wrong there but I would have loved to ask him why he thought this way.

“Everybody who is taking risks and innovating is welcome because there are lots of hardcore gamers and those guys want new things, where the mass market will be more interested in having the same experience,” he said.

“It’s not aware as much of what is going to change its experience. So, the beginning of the machines is always a good time for innovation.”

Ubisoft released some fantastic games this gen and also showed glimpses of next-gen at E3 2012 with Watch Dogs stealing the show with incredible graphics.
