Ubisoft Releases New Child of Light Dev Diary

Focuses on visual art of the game.

Ubisoft Montreal have released a new dev diary, the first making-of video of a series of similar entries. This first video shows the developers of the upcoming role playing platformer talking about its story and visual art.

Child of Light sees the players controlling several characters, one of whom is Aurora, the daughter of an Austrian Duke, who wakes up to find herself in a magical dream world. She must find her way back home to her father using her magical abilities, and guiding her is an orb of light which can be controlled by a second player. Another character in the game is Igniculus, who also has special magical powers.

The game will also include an Active Time Battle meter during battles, and will include a skill tree similar to what we saw in Far Cry 3.

The video also shows the developers talking about the visual art they’ve incorporated in the game, citing artists such as John Bauer, Edmund Dulac and Georges Rackham as inspirations.

Watch the video above, there’s some interesting stuff in there.

Stay tuned to GB for more updates.
