Who doesn’t like free games? Legitimately free games, we mean. Ubisoft’s turning 30 this year. That’s plenty of time to turn into a monolithic mega-corporation. But the good news is that the Assassin’s Creed developer will be offering a whole raft of titles from its back-catalog, golden oldies like Prince of Pesia: The Sands of Time, for free.
Now, Ubisoft has revealed that, from July 13th onwards, it will be offering the original Splinter Cell for free! Sam Fisher’s come a long, long way since then, with the most recent outing, Blacklist making for one of the more compelling third-person stealth experiences outside of Metal Gear Solid V.
Still, the original is still plenty good, especially considering that it won’t cost you a penny! Splinter Cell, remarkably, is now 14 years old, but the core mechanics, which were iterated on for half a dozen sequels (and even a couple mobile spin-offs), holds up remarkably well. Are you planning to grab Splinter Cell off Uplay next week? Let us know!
