Console-like production values

Golden Abyss looks every bit as good as the PS3 Uncharted titles

The only thing that will be shrunk down for the portable incarnation of Uncharted is the screen size. We’ve been promised a console-like experience and, if you’ve seen any of the game in action, you know that this will definitely be the case. The graphics of Golden Abyss are every bit as impressive as its PS3 counterparts, and Nolan North will reprise his role as Nathan Drake to deliver the same quality voice acting that the series is renowned for. Expect the same high production values you experienced on PS3, but now in the palm of your hand.

Different puzzle experiences

If the DS has taught us anything, it's that touch screens and puzzles work well together

Though the touch screen controls are optional for the main gameplay elements, there will be certain puzzle sections that will require the use of motion controls. So far we’ve seen a demo of players having to decipher and paste together maps with the touch screen, but there are sure to be more inventive motion controlled puzzles when the full game launches.

A new partner

Jason Dante

Of the new characters we expect to see in Golden Abyss, the demos at E3 have already introduced us to a new partner character by the name of Jason Dante. Dante seems to have a more antagonistic relationship with Drake than any of the other partner characters seen in Drake’s Fortune or Among Thieves. Though we don’t know much else about the game’s characters, Dante’s relationship with Drake seems set to add a new dynamic to the game.

Mini-games

Puzzles and riddles!

If the previews and demos of Golden Abyss have shown us anything, it’s that there will be more going on aside from just ploughing through the game’s story. One section of the game in particular showed Drake trying to take a picture on a camera to match one in his notebook for points. Though this is just one mini-game, we can expect that others will make it into the game for when it retails.
