New environments

It's a jungle out there

The levels shown so far in Golden Abyss seem heavily focused on jungle environments. Though this isn’t an entirely new type of setting for the series, we haven’t seen as heavy a focus on the tropical type environments since the original Uncharted. Having missed out a lot of these jungle levels in Among Thieves, it will be interesting to see how they work in Golden Abyss.

A new quest

Golden Abyss looks set to be Drake's biggest adventure yet

Forget the treasure of Marco Polo, Drake’s got bigger fish to fry in Golden Abyss. This time Drake is following the violent trail of an ancient Spanish sect, all while caught in the rivalry between Jason Dante and Marisa Chase, the granddaughter of a missing archaeologist. Expect the same drama and twists and turns that has made the series so popular.

New developers

Bend did a good job making a portable Resistance, so let's have faith they'll give Uncharted the same treatment

Shock horror. Naughty Dog have outsourced Golden Abyss to another developer: Bend Studio. Before you openly voice your discuss, remember Bend’s previously stellar work on the Syphon Filter games and the impressive Resistance: Retribution. If you’re still not convinced then you should know that the developer are also keeping close contact with Naughty Dog, just to ensure that their presentation of all things Uncharted is by the book. Only time will tell exactly how much justice Bend will do the series.
