PS1 support finally arrives.
Once you have downloaded the firmware update for Vita, you can download a bunch of PS1 classics via Vita’s PSN or transfer through the PS3. If you don’t own a PS3 you will miss out on a lot of vital games, so I know it’s a bit unfair, but you should really own a PS3 at this stage.
Sony has released a video showing all the improvements in firmware 1.8 and also a list of all the compatible titles that you can download on August 29th, which is tomorrow.
“For those of you who have already purchased these titles, you will be able to re-download those games directly from your PS Store account or transfer them to your PS Vita directly from your PS3,” reads the PS Blog.
There are a lot of PS1 games that need to be tested to find out whether they are working on the Vita or not, but the fine folks at NeoGAF and Reddit are doing that as we speak, so go to those places to get a constantly updated list of titles.
Here’s the Japanese list which features over 600 titles.
