Watch Dogs May Not Have The Biggest Open World, But It’s The Deepest- Ubisoft

For those of you who’re expect Watch Dogs to have an absolutely gargantuan open world map with jets and choppers and all sorts of vehicles for you to traverse the city in, you’ll be disappointed to know that that won’t be the case when the game actually comes out. You will, however, be pleased to know that, at least according to the developers, while Watch Dogs does not have the biggest open world out there, it will have the deepest one.

“We didn’t really pay that much importance to scale,” Ubisoft’s Jonathan Morin told Eurogamer. “I’ve did open world games before and, that’s my personal take on it, size can be a trap. Like any other mechanics or content in the game, you want to create what you need; you don’t want to do just for the sake of doing it.

“Size is something that matters when you need it. A game like GTA V, for example, is a massive world; but they have jets! Jets need space. I think that’s totally a legitimate way of doing it.

“In our case, we have a lot of depth, we want to play for twenty minutes in a roadblock. So, we were focusing a lot on that depth and making sure that we wouldn’t have extra space causing problem to that desire. The game is massive and Chicago is massive, but don’t expect, like, the biggest open world ever done. Do expect the deepest one you’ve ever seen, though.”

Watch Dogs comes out on May 27 for the Xbox 360, Xbox One, PS3, PS4 and PC while a Wii U version will release at an as of yet unannounced date.
