Watch the full official announcement of Forza Motorsport 6

Microsoft and Turn 10 promise there will be no compromises this time around.

Microsoft and Turn 10 Studios officially announced Forza Motorsport 6, the sixth numbered entry in Microsoft’s hit racing sim series, a few days ago, also confirming that it would be hitting the Xbox One exclusively later this year. The announcement gave us a look at the headlining cover car, but details on the game otherwise were a bit scarce.

Well, that changes today, since Microsoft and Turn 10 have posted a new announcement video for the game, that was filmed directly in Ford’s office in Detroit, which also includes an interview with Ford Performance Marketing Manager Henry Ford III.

The full video includes a lot of fascinating snippets about the upcoming game, but the one thing that stands out the most is the following quote, which was made by Turn 10 Creative Director Dan Greenawalt:

“The design process, the creative process, has started to converge, between how it’s done in games and how it’s done on cars. We’ve been in the bunker with the guys designing this car, and you know, honestly they’re just like us, right?

“There’s an incredible kinship between Turn 10 and Ford. And especially Ford Performance… The ideas they’re going into the technology being done there. And now, it’s about bringing it to life, on both teams. Both teams have to get it done, get it perfect, no compromise, really build the experience our customers deserve.”

Whereas a a lot of it sounds like typical PR speak, there is also the slight hope to be had here that Turn 10 is looking at making, once again, a game while holding nothing back, the kind of game that made Forza Motorsport 3 and Forza Motorsport 4 so acclaimed even as rival series Gran Turismo continued its slide into irrelevance, and not something like Forza Motorsport 5, which was panned roundly by everyone upon release.

The game launches on Xbox One later this year. We will keep you posted.
