Varric is a compulsive liar.
Now this is a very frightening statement, because Varric himself confirms he is a liar. Though I guess Varric being a liar is one of the more better things, because originally Varric was written as a sleazy and untrustworthy character. Later the writers wanted to add a companion who would stand up for Hawke and thus Varric bought into the fray. Though this begs the question, since Varric recited the whole tale of Dragon Age 2, was his tale true or false?
