Sten makes a reference to Portal
Rarely do you find a Bioware game, which makes a reference to the Half Life world or Portal world, but in case of Dragon Age Origins, Sten makes a very direct reference to the game, and even quotes one of its famous lines. During the epilogue, when the player tries to talk to Sten after the first time, he will exclaim “Where is the cake? I was told there would be cake. The cake is a lie.” This is a direct reference to Portal, where the phrase “The Cake is a Lie” is written on walls predominantly throughout many of the game’s levels.
