1. Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze

Retro Studios had teased us for quite some time, keeping under wraps as to what their next title would be. That title came to us with the tag of Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze. Perfect start for Retro Studios to step in for the Wii U. After having us cackle with joy and give thumbs up with all the thumbs at our disposal to Donkey Kong Country Returns, Tropical Freeze is the best surprise that Retro Studios could have given us at the E3. Faced with the pilfering Snowmads this time, Donkey Kong would be accompanied by Diddy, Dixie and Cranky Kong in reclaiming their frozen home while journeying through a variety of icy, warm and leafy islands supplemented with some underwater levels. Every character promises a different gameplay experience (try ‘more fun’). The game would at instances grant a change in perspective while playing the game which looks brilliant. In essence though, the game is an improved version of the same reckless fun that has had us exult with joy not forgetting a bunch of other new game elements. There’s no shortage of smashing barrels, running through enemies, flying or jumping or ground thumping and heavy lifting. All that, rendered in HD. The release date isn’t far but we are twiddling our thumbs in anticipation.
