Mario Party 10
Back in the Nintendo 64 era, the Mario Party series of game was a pillar of Nintendo’s multipayer empire, a fun series of games that became must haves for owners of its platform, spoken of in the same breath as classic games such as Mario Kart, Super Smash Bros., and Goldeneye. Incessant milking since then has all but killed the series- and the most recent entries have actually been pretty terrible- but Mario Party 10 looks like it might finally be a return to form. It looks to return to the same kinds of short but engaging minigames, that blend skill and luck so dexterously, that the series became known for in the first place and it looks like it might become another solid multiplayer addition to the Wii U’s library.
Another intriguing aspect of this is Amiibo compatibility- Mario Party 10 is confirmed to be compatible with Nintendo’s brand new NFC enabled toys, and the idea of having them mixed with Mario Party’s traditional mayhem sounds very interesting. Amiibos might just be the thing that this series needs, the shake up that it has required for years now. And even if it ends up being just another standard Mario Party, even then, it’s at least guaranteed to be good fun when you have friends over, or are playing with your family.
