Fatal Frame V
Okay, at this point, anyone who dismisses the library of Wii U as just typical of Nintendo is probably running out of arguments- games like Bayonetta 2, The Wonderful 101, ZombiU, and Pikmin 3 already exist, and we already have things like Devil’s Third coming out on it. And there is also Fatal Frame V, the latest installment in the long running Japanese horror game series from Tecmo Koei, exclusive to Wii U.
Fatal Frame 5 is a very rare game- it is one that actually makes good use of the Wii U Gamepad. It was released back in Japan earlier this year to rave reviews, and great sales, and even though the Wii Fatal Frame games never made it to the west, Fatal Frame V is likelier, simply because Nintendo has committed to better localization policies after the debacle of Xenoblade Chronicles, The Last Story, and Pandora’s Tower on the Wii, and followed through with that promise; also because, unlike the Wii, the Wii U has no support from other companies, so Nintendo needs to make sure that games that are on it are available to everyone.
It also helps that Fatal Frame V is different, not just from other games on the system, but also from other games on the market. In an era where survival horror either seems to be dead, or reduced to jump scares, Fatal Frame V promises true scares to everybody, and is definitely a title that all Wii U owners should look into.
