Will the Xbox 720 get delayed to 2014? Crazy rumour emerges

Probably fake.

An Italian website has posted a rumour that Microsoft will delay their next Xbox to 2014. The reason suggested for this is that they are having troubles with Blu-Ray licensing and that is preventing the company from releasing the console this year.

This of course sounds rubbish because Microsoft can add the movie playback and other features that require licensing via a firmware update after the system is out.

It also mentions something about Sony having an exclusivity over some parts of the format which Microsoft cannot use. This obviously doesn’t really make sense because Microsoft can simply pay for it or do something else than giving an entire holiday season to Sony.

Take this with a massive pinch of salt. Microsoft will be revealing their next-gen system on May 21st.
