Xbox One Streaming to Windows 10

Windows 10’s official projected release date is summer of this year, but that is only for PCs- if you are a smartphone owner, for instance, you won’t be able to get your hands on Microsoft’s latest and greatest OS until later. The same also holds true for Xbox One owners- Windows 10 will not come to the console until some time after the summer, Microsoft confirmed today.

Microsoft also confirmed that, as with any new update for the Xbox One, Windows 10 will first come to Xbox One via the Preview Program, which is like a public, small scale beta test, that lets Microsoft roll out feature updates to a small subset of users first to see if they can catch any bugs or errors in intended functionality.

Windows 10 will mark the first complete overhaul to the Xbox One UI, which has nonetheless continued to constantly evolve thanks to monthly updates that address feedback with clockwork regularity. Back on the Xbox 360, Microsoft launched multiple completely new UIs and OSs for the console, so they are not new at this. Let’s just hope they can pull it off as smoothly this time too.
